Why You Need A Pet Relocation Service To Move Internationally

In many ways, moving abroad is more stressful for your dog or cat than it is for you. While crossing international borders is never fun, at least you know where you are going and why. Your pets have no idea what is happening to them.

Fortunately, an international pet relocation service can make transitioning to your new home just a bit easier for the both of you.

Your Pet Will Travel in a Comfy Crate

We help you find a compliant airline-approved travel crate.

Your furry friend will be given a crate that is size appropriate for their height and length. You may need to work with your pet to help them acclimate to this temporary home. We will assist and provide advice as to how you can do this in a comfortable and timely manner.

One tip is to start the process with just the bottom part of the crate in view. Use toys and treats to attract your furry companion into the crate.  You can also start feeding them their meals inside of it.

Eventually, your animal will come to accept that it is a safe place to sleep or otherwise spend time in. Once you see that happening, it is time to put the top part on.  It is important to note here that you cannot have toys or food in the crate during travel.

When it gets closer to the travel date, find an absorbent blanket or mat to place on the bottom of the crate.  If it smells like you – all the better!  Your scent will help to keep them calm during the flight.

We Can Help with Vaccinations and Certifications

Our team can assist with the process of making sure that your pet meets the country’s import and vaccination requirements to travel to your destination. If necessary, we can take your animal to a vet who has USDA credentials on your behalf. We will also ensure that all medical and other necessary paperwork is endorsed by a USDA-Accredited Veterinarian.  Health certificate paperwork must typically be endorsed no more than ten days prior to departure.

AE Pets makes sure everything is done properly.  We offer door-to-door service.  Your coordinator will be in touch with you throughout the days leading up to departure. During this time, they will keep you up-to-date on when your Vet health check is and anything else needed. We will be arranging customs clearance and do all the import paperwork for the destination side.

A few days before departure, the arrangements for the handoff of your precious cargo at your home or at/near the airport will be finalized. There are lots of moving parts, but our team works together to make them all fit into place!

When Travel Day Arrives

On flight day, your animal will typically need to be at the airport at least four hours before departure. Our driver will ensure that your pet gets to the airport with enough time to allow for a safe and proper check-in. Remember to hand over any documents that you have to the driver. No animal is allowed to board a plane without their paperwork.

While pet parents often choose to fly on the same plane as their animals, this is not necessary. We can work with you to create a plan to keep your pets safe if you choose to take a flight that arrives after your animal does. If you choose to arrive before your pet, we will keep you informed as to their whereabouts and how to claim them after its plane lands. We can also just drive them to your new home!

Taking Your Pet Through Customs

As with anything else that you bring across international lines, we will need to get Rover and Kitty through customs.

Depending on the country that you’re relocating to, it may be necessary to pay a small tax on arrival. Certain Countries also require quarantine This is to ensure that the traveling doggies and kitties coming from other countries don’t have any diseases that might result in widespread health issues or damage to the country’s animals. Don’t worry, before you leave the US, we’ll address and ensure that all the details are covered.

Working with a Service Is Less Expensive Than Doing It Yourself

A pet relocation service will typically charge anywhere from $3500 and up, to arrange your pets international move across international boundaries. This price depends on the size and number of pets you are moving.

Spending this much money to move your pet to another Country may sound insane, but in the end, you will likely save money and time and have less stress (trust me – there will still be stress).

Whatever your reason is for moving to another Country and bringing your four (or 3 or 2) legged companions with you, it’s important to do so properly.

Working with a pet relocation service can make the process of getting your entire family settled in a timely and convenient manner easier.
